7 songs to boost your workout
When it comes to working out, most people need some sort of music to get started. As a runner, I need some sort of distraction to keep from dying of exhaustion, and music has always been the outlet I rely on the most.
Music literally calms the soul and allows your body to relax, especially in high stress situations like training. For most people, it’s an escape as soon as you hit play. It’s a world where you don’t have to worry about your next assignment or who likes your Instagram posts.
If you can’t finish a workout without a stacked playlist, these songs are sure to elevate your heart rate – and hopefully your motivation level – as you step into the home stretch. Here are seven songs to add to your workout playlist:
Lady Gaga’s “Perfect Illusion”
This song’s intro alone will automatically make your legs move faster and make the weight you’re trying to lift over your head lighter. The screaming guitars and backup drums of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker allow for a fast tempo so that the time flies faster.
There is a pulse you can feel ringing against you as Gaga moans, “I still feel the blow, but at least now I know / It wasn’t love.” The layered vocals also let you empathize with this heartbreaking hymn, which always makes me want to push myself harder on behalf of whoever broke the heart of this absolute legend. This track also provides a great tempo for cardio with a stable baseline and drum beat.
Rihanna’s “Where Have You Been”
This electro-pop song has the potential to take you out of that funk you’ve been in and make you the ultimate gym member you’ve always dreamed of being. The intro itself creates the ultimate crescendo with stacked beats, all combined to make you feel like you’re stepping into a club.
There are perfect moments in this song where you can increase the pace at which you are running or walking, especially when the line, “Are you hiding from me, yeah?” / Somewhere in the crowd? ”Starts pumping into your headphones.
Rihanna’s tantalizing voice almost makes you feel like she’s screaming in your ear to keep pushing you, and how can you forget the iconic DJ beats? This song will definitely get you moving.
Post Malone’s “Hollywood’s Bleeding”
In general, this whole album is one of my favorites to listen to on the way to the gym. This track immediately gives the impression of being in an underground world fleeing everything that bothers you.
At first all you can hear are the stacked echoes of the singer’s voice, leading to a trance-like opening with an increasing bassline. Almost at the climax of the song, there’s a pause that prepares you for a burst of lyrics, accompanied by a rhythmic mix of beats begging you to stick around for the entire production.
My favorite line is “I go out and all their eyes are on me / I show myself; do you like what you see? “which gives you time to think through your workout, something that I personally love to do. It is so easy to get lost in this song that you even forget you are yourself. workout, and I highly suggest you add it to your gym playlist.Post Malone knows that.
“Heaven is a place in my head” by Bad Suns
This is the perfect song for anyone who enjoys the sound of the 80s or 90s. Its upbeat personality and instrumentation make you want to smile while you sweat or feel pain all over the place.
It’s a constant mirage of guitars and bouncing vocals, taking you on a roller coaster ride of music production. “Take me anywhere but here baby / Some things never last as long as you want” are the words where I relax in my stride and feel my confidence building. Put it on when you are feeling lazy or tired, as it will cheer you up instantly.
“In my arms” by COIN
Again, this intro is absolutely breathtaking and will keep you going as the song progresses. The strong beat of the drums and the keyboard variations make this song unique in its production.
With witty lyrics and backing vocals that almost amount to screaming, the volume of this song is hard to miss. It would be the best song for that last mile of your run or that last pump you just need to finish. The lyrics “Karma killer, you know, oh, oh / You’ve got my attention” will make you part of your workout all the time, and you won’t even remember the pain in your legs or the tiredness you’ll soon feel. walk back from Ping.

To all of my former One Directioners, this is for you! The guitar and bass line in this song will remind you of the good old days of the 2010s music scene and inspire you to start on that treadmill or try out a new machine at the gym.
“Who is this shadow holding me hostage?” / I’ve been here for days ”will put you in a trance filled with only good vibes, and you will feel like Niall, Harry, Louis, Zayn and Liam are all cheering you on when you start your training. The energy of this song is electrifying and the effect it gives off is worth taking the time to hit the gym. Believe me! The confidence-building that this song provides will ensure it will stay on your gym playlist for years to come.
“I am not a woman, I am a god” by Halsey
This song dropped almost three weeks ago, and it immediately hit the top of my own practice playlist. If you like the punk rock sound, you just need this song in your life. Halsey’s screaming vocals and top-notch production beg you to keep listening. I just never want this to end while I’m running.
“I am not a woman / I am a god / I am not a martyr / I am a problem” yells at you to continue and reminds you of the strength that you have always had in you. The isolating screech of the guitars and the intense percussion make you feel like you are in the front row of their concert. This feminist anthem will rock you throughout your workout.
