Daisy Wood-Davis and Luke Jerdy of Hollyoaks welcome their first child
Hollyoaks’ Daisy Wood-Davis and Luke Jerdy have welcomed their first child together, sharing the news by revealing the baby boy’s beautiful name and the cute reason behind it.
The actress, who played Kim Butterfield in the soap opera from 2014 to 2018, broke the news in three Instagram photos, the first of which showed their baby’s legs and the words “IT’S A BOY” on the floor.
“Tuesday morning our world changed forever. @Lukejerdy and I are so proud to announce that we have a beautiful baby boy. Asa, you changed everything,” she wrote.

Her caption explained the meaning of the other two images, as she wrote: “Photo 2: The note my father wrote in the book he bought from my mother when she was pregnant with me, I was very close to calling me Asa myself!
“Photo 3: Grandpa had this on his store window a few hours after Asa was born.”
Several famous faces sent congratulatory messages in the comments, with Hollyoaks star Anna Passey writing, “Congratulations to both of you (three heart emoji).
What a magnificent name! I hope that you all are ok !”
“Here he is !!! And what a name! He already looks famous,” wrote former co-star Jessica Ellis. “Welcome Asa, we’ve loved you for ages!”
Amy Conachan added: “I can’t wait to meet you Asa. I love you, your mom and your dad so much!”

Other stars to send their love off include The Voice Kids pop star and coach Pixie Lott, former Coronation Street star Bhavna Limbachia and Hollyoaks turned Strictly Come Dancing Danny Mac star.
Luke shared the same images and wrote his own poignant caption, stating: “Asa Sean Wood-Mehdizadeh was born Tuesday, September 28 at 9:50 am – the same date my grandfather, who died the same month Asa was conceived. .
“The song played on our speaker when he was born was ‘Back to Life’ by Soul II Soul, which was completely hit and miss as Spotify had started to mix songs similar to the ones played last. Asa means ‘healer’ in Hebrew and I feel like he has already brought so much healing to me and my family.
“I have the deepest love for @daisy_wood_davis, she channeled the strength and energy of millions of women before her – truly amazing. We are parents.”
The couple announced their engagement in 2019.
Hollyoaks airs new episodes Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 4, with preview screenings at 7 p.m. on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
