Irvington’s Cookiee Kawaii to headline Hideaway Hotel concert
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ – A “3D Social Virtual Community” that has gained millions of members by hosting virtual concerts will mark a milestone with the help of Essex County native Cookiee Kawaii.
Kawaii, from Irvington, will take part in a virtual show hosted by the Hideaway Hotel on Friday, May 28.
According to Hotel Hideaway, the concert is being held to celebrate reaching 15 million members.
“Over the past year, more and more audiences have come online to connect with friends and seek entertainment,” Hideaway Hotel spokespersons said in a press release.
Kawaii gained international fame last year when their song “Vibe (If I Back it Up)” became a sensation on the social platform TikTok.
“I’ve been a Habbo fan since a young age, so it’s an honor for me to be headline-grabbing a brand new virtual gig for Hotel Hideaway,” Kawaii said.
Hotel Hideaway is operated by Finnish games company Sulake, which was acquired by media company Azerion earlier this year.
“We are delighted with Cookiee Kawaii’s upcoming performance, which is sure to delight and entertain our fans around the world,” said Valtteri Karu, CEO of Sulake.
“Our goal is to bridge the gap between gaming and music,” said Holly Hammer, Head of Partnerships at Azerion. “As a player herself, Cookiee Kawaii is a natural fit for this mission.”
